Leaving Scotland

Was are last day of are short stay at Edinburgh, we did one more walk around looking at the sites. This is one of the towers looks like something from Mordor from 'Lord of the rings'.

We never went to see these street performers, biggest regret of the holiday. haha

And then came night and the end of are Scotland holiday. Has been good and was nice to see the modern and the natural side to Scotland, feel i have experienced Scotland fully. Is a great place for people who want picturesc views and enjoy hiking.

Holyrood Palace

We visited Holyrood Palace, basically its the Queens holiday palace! She likes to go there apparently to relax. Was a nice looking palace, not as big as Buckingham but more historical looking.

We paid to go in it, there was like a little museam inside and you could walk round the gardens. Was more like a tourist attraction then a home for the Queen.

You couldn't go in most of the corridors obviously and the Queen wasn't in but was still special to visit. The Architecture was probbly the best part of it really, the rest didn't impress me much.

Edinburgh

The next day we arrived in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. Edinburgh was a really nice place, was busy and modern but had symbols of history and culture such as Edinburgh castle on top of this small mountain for all to see.

Finally we heard someone playing bagpipes in Scotland was begining to think we wouldn't, this felt more of the Scotland i expected.

The Edinburgh fringe festival was on too, there were lots of Comedy shows to go see. We got tickets for stand up comedian Mark Watson which was hilarious and even bumped into Jack Whitehall on the street! I'm not kidding we did!

The streets were a pleasure to walk down, you could grab something to eat and then watch a man juggle chain saws! There was loads of street buskers to watch.

Last day on the Loch

On the last day in Loch lommand we hiked up another mountain. it was an easier one to climb which meant we reached the top and could look out over the Loch and see it in all its glory.

Was deffenetly the high point of the holiday. hehehe

We let off a chienese lantern to end it. Tommorow we head to Edinburgh...

Riding on the Loch

On are last day in Loch Lommand we took a boat ride across the Loch. Wasnt great weather very dark but again made some atmospheric pictures.

Unfriendly clouds. it rained a lot.

Best way to see the Loch is on a boat, see the whole panoramic of the landscape. Would be a nice place to retire too.

Scottish waterfalls

Some more waterfall photos here. Scotland is a lot similar to Wales in some ways but on a much bigger, grander scale.

Nothing more fun then skipping a long the rocks a long the river.

The Scottish mountains

Have you seen the film Braveheart? you have? Well I've been there.

These were the mountains of Scotland. We drove through winding roads as the mountains got bigger and bigger and all were lush and green. Deffenetly looked like the setting for 'Braveheart' or 'The Lord of the Rings'.

We stopped off and decided to climb as far up one of the mountains as we could. We only got half way as it chucked it down and got too steap but here i am filming the exstrodanary view infront of me.

These were the views, we were up higher then it looks. Fantastic scenery for an adventourour.

The Loch

We had a nice walk round the Loch where we found this nice bit of land overlooking the Loch.

We never quite found out what that building is up there, it had big tubes running down the mountain. Think it might of been a hydroelectric plant.

This is one of my favourite pictures of the lake. Scotland weather may be gloomy but it adds mood and character to the landscape. I love how the clouds touch the mountain tops and the water ripples under the small boat.

Loch Lommand rainbow

On the first day as it came to the afternoon it rained, typical of scotland but as it cleared up we were left with this stunning view. A full rainbow arched over the Loch! Could there be a more perfect view!

This is a photographers dream! Shame are camera wasn't great. the rainbow didnt come out in all its glory, but this brain remembers it.

Shame leprechauns live in Ireland because there is deffenetly a pot of gold on the other side of the Loch.

Scotland 2010

Scotland!

Well its now 2010 and we booked are next holiday for the year. After the enjoyment of Wales and that type of holiday we decided to try Scotland! We've been before but again it was when i was very young. We set out on are week long holiday in July 2010. The cat journeys senery was fantastic with mountains everywhere.

We arrived at are cosy home in a beautful place with a massive Loch known as Loch Lommand. Its not the home to the Loch ness monster but it was still a georgeous Loch. We were staying in a nice little wood cabin overlooking the lake, it was very picturesc.

This was the view we had every morning. Mountains rising in the distance and the Loch simmering underneith. I have never been some where so stunning. I could look at this view for hours.

Huge Waterfall

As you make your way through the forest and up the cliffs you start to see the waterfalls. You hear them first, loud rushes of crashing water.

There are some really nice ones and as you know i love waterfalls.

They cascade down the cliffs landing in pools at the bottem.

There is plenty to explore on the walk and is so much fun skipping across the rocks emerging from the streams.

Then once you make your way further the waterfalls get bigger and bigger until you reach this one! This huge waterfall cut away on the side of a cliff.

As i stand hear on this boulder i can hear nothing but the crashing of water on the rocks and the spray blowing from it. You can feel the power of nature.

Some brave people dare get this close but i'm fine wear i am. Centry's of erosion caused this waterfall to form and is the greatest one i've ever seen.

Penny tree

This is the penny tree. Started by an artist and added by many visitors the tree has been stuffed with copper coins. It gives the tree an odd metalic texture and feels like scales when you rub your hand over it.

I wonder how much this tree is worth?
